Event Marketing

Positioning, Assessment of Value and Marketing Strategies

Everyone needs to know five main things before making a decision on whether or not they want to accept an invitation somewhere.  No matter what it is people will always want to know these five things: Who, What, When, Where and Why.  These five things alone can answer just about every question one would have.  Knowing that a News Release is intended to be short and sweet this page can fill in the vacant areas.  The more detail the better!

The positioning statements and grid information is an important aspect in planning an event.  The positioning statements express how the event itself fulfills the targeted audiences needs in a way in which the competitors cannot.  The grid itself, along with the positioning statements help identify the appropriate market for this said event and how to make it established in the area surrounding the event.

The Marketing Strategies grid is a vital component for a successful marketing campaign.  By breaking down the marketing strategies to traditional and non-traditional, it allows for the greatest possible outcomes- reaching all audiences in a variety of ways.  By starting with a broad goal and measurable objectives you can implement several tactics that will result in a successful Return on Investment (ROI).

A News Release may seem tricky, but it is an important document directed to those who work for the news medias, in order to properly announce and promote your event to the public.  In a short one page assesment of an upcoming event, these outlets help summarize the "excitement" contained within the document while reaching your target audiences.

Social media is the new word of mouth!  As time goes on media outlets change, and it seems that technology is taking over how we learn about what is going on.  This day and age just about everyone has a Facebook account, even my Grandma!  Knowing that social media is actively growing, we know this is a prime way to promote an upocming event in a fast, easy, and effective way.

Although social media is rapidly growing, we must not forget that PRINT IS NOT DEAD!  Everywhere we go we see magazines, flyers and posters to promote some sort of event, business or announcement and it still catches our eye!  Brochures and flyers allow us to give information as it is while providing access to recieve further information by providing a web link or even incorporate technology such as a QR code.

Going into this assignment knowing very little about sponsorships it became very clear how important a sponsorship grid/proposal is in the grand scheme of things.  The sponsorship proposal lays out exactly what each level of the sponsopships includes in the description portion, and lays out the benefits in a flashy way that makes them intriguing.  Lastly, it's important to not only lay every specific detail out in the descriptions portion but also use intriuging langange that grabs the potential prospects attention as well as languange that directly refelcts the events theme.  By using this effective marketing tactic it will make your event/organization stand out from others.  Think like the customer, what do they want?
